The nearest town is Thiviers, in northern Dordogne, Aquitaine, France. Nearby are the towns of Brantôme and Périgueux, and the village of St Jean de Cole, in the beautiful rolling countryside of Perigord Vert – land of rivers, wooded hills and green valleys – also of fois gras and gastronomic delights.

Activities range from canoeing on the River Dronne, tennis, walking or cycling along unused tracks (an old railway track leads from Thiviers to Nontron through villages in the hills), horse-riding, golf or the Velo-Rail.

There is much to explore close at hand.  Stretching across the hills to the north of Thiviers is the area of the Perigord-Limousin National Park, to the east is Limousin, to the south and west of Thiviers stretches the Dordogne with all its riches of dramatic scenery, prehistoric sites and art, ancient hill-top towns and romanesque churches, vineyards and castles.  There are many activities to keep children amused, from river and lake beaches to wildlife adventure parks or pre-history presented in such a way as to enthral all ages.
