Les Raneaux is a peaceful old house set in fragrant green gardens, framed by tall old trees, with an orchard, a small park and a meadow which runs along the fields beyond the property.  It lies just outside the market town of Thiviers on the edge of farming land in the neighbouring commune of Nantheuil de Thiviers. It is a small eighteenth century manor house of mellow golden stone with a roof of curved red tiles,  an ornamental watch tower at one end.  The domain has long since passed into other hands, leaving only the name to the area.  In the middle of the last century the house was carefully restored, to give a perfect balance of spacious rooms, privacy and practicality.    Today it has an old world charm and elegance with ancient beams and marble floors downstairs, and long gleaming wooden floors upstairs.
