Thiviers
Good assortment of shops, three supermarkets, railway station (Limoges-Périgueux), restaurant, bars, cinema, tennis courts, cycle hire shop, weekly market (Saturday). about 5-8 minutes by car or 25 minutes on foot.

Périgueux
Lively regional centre, many outdoor restaurants in the squares, music, theatre, Wednesday market.

Brantôme
Beautiful town, encircled by the River Dronne.  Full of eating
Places, art galleries, shops.  13th Century Abbaye, 11th Century Clocher. 'Parcours troglodytique' set into the high tree-clad cliffs behind the Abbaye. Centre for canoeing – upstream to Champagnac de Belair, or down to Bourdeilles.
Cycles to hire. Concerts in the Abbaye, and variety of events in the town throughout the summer.

In addition there are many art exhibitions, antique fairs (brocantes) and weekly markets in many local towns and ancient pilgrimage routes throughout the area (leading to St Jacques de Compostello)
